Hidden Treasures of the Sand

"Peoples will gather to the Mount . . . they will suckle the bounty of the seas and the hidden treasures of the sand." (Devarim 33:19)

Herein can be found the insights and inspiration of a yeshivah-man living on the outskirts of Jerusalem. Among the hills and sands of the Judean Desert, he continues to discover treasures hidden and revealed, as he sails the sea of Torah, and suckles its bounty.

Purpose of this Blog

The information posted here was so recorded in this forum because of its interest TO THE AUTHOR. It is being made available because of its possible interest to others. Some pieces may be too advanced for the uninitiated, or simply not of the particular reader's interest. Nevertheless, I do believe that there is something for everyone here, and the one who returns often will not be disappointed. I greatly encourage discussion and questions on the material presented, as this leads to greater understanding, deeper thinking, and potential for growth, which is the entire purpose of this undertaking. "Originally, anyone who proposed to me that I should become Nasi - I wished to feed him to the lions. However, after I became the Nasi, if anyone would propose to me that I relinquish that office, I would douse him with boiling water!"
-R' Yehoshua ben Perachyah (Menachos 109B)

“The duty of every Jew is to obey the orders of the Rabbis, even if they say that the right hand is the left, and the left hand is the right . . . so as not to provoke quarrels in the midst of the wise of Israel.”
-Rabbi Moshe Chayim Luzzato (1707-1746)

"Rashi’s commentary on Torah is the ‘wine of Torah.' It opens the heart and uncovers one’s essential love and fear of G-d."
-Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi (1745-1812)
